I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Events and Celebrations

We can start the day by remembering to not make our lives too complicated.  NATIONAL SIMPLICITY DAY falls on the birthday of Henry David Thoreau who advocated the simple life in his book, “Walden”.

Today we can see things a little differently by recognizing those with heterochromia – or DIFFERENT COLORED EYES DAY.  This unique feature can be hereditary or caused by an accident or illness.  If you have this condition, I wish you a happy day.

COW APPRECIATION DAY is brought to us by the fine folks at Chick-Fil-A.  We can definitely appreciate these beautiful bovines for the milk and meat they give us – and – if you walk into a Chick-Fil-A today, dressed as one, you get a free meal.  “EAT MOR CHIKIN”

How about a super light and chilled treat?  EAT YOUR JELLO DAY will give you just that and since there is always room for Jell-O, hopefully there will be room for this next one.

They don ‘t get much more decadent than this dessert of the day.  NATIONAL PECAN PIE DAY is full of flavor, sweetness and richness.  The pecan part may be healthy, but the rest is just pure indulgence.

On this day…

1859 – William Goodale receives the patent for a machine that makes paper bags

Most Awesome Wonderful God, we thank you for your blessings and ask for healing for those who are suffering from COVID and for our friend who is dealing with cancer.  Bring our country together so that we may not be divided but so we can work together to fulfill your will.  I ask this in your loving name, Jesus, Amen.
