Kev’s Daily Take on 07/22/2022

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Events and Celebrations

FRAGILE X AWARENESS DAY brings this genetic disorder into the spotlight.  Fragile X Syndrome happens when not enough of the FRMP protein is made, which helps develop the brain.  Symptoms include balance problems, shaky hands, memory loss, cognitive problems, unstable mood and numbness in the hands and feet.  There is no cure for Fragile X and not much research has been conducted yet.  Let’s see if we can’t change that.

For all of the math lovers out there it is also PI APPROXIMATION DAY.  Take todays date and divide it by itself.  The result is 3.14285…which is close to Pi.  Anyway, it’s a good reason to have some pie today.

A tip of the workman’s hat goes to NATIONAL RAT CATCHERS DAY.  We thank all of the people who take care of those pesky varmints for us.  Knowing where to look, what to look for and how to deal with it, is a real talent.  Today is also one of the dates given when the Pied Piper of Hamlin got rid of all the rats.  When the townspeople wouldn’t pay him, he got rid of all of the children.

  • Exercise regularly
  • Get plenty of sleep
  • Stay mentally active – more puzzles and games and less TV
  • Follow a Mediterranean diet
  • Stay socially active

NATIONAL HAMMOCK DAY is here to make sure we get some rest.  Turn off the phone, climb into one of these rocking relaxers and let all of your problems and cares melt away as you swing your way to sleep.

NATIONAL MANGO DAY celebrates the sweet fruit that is full of vitamins, anti-oxidants, fiber and potassium.  Turn them into a smoothie, use them in salads or just eat one by itself.

All you need to celebrate NATIONAL PENUCHE FUDGE DAY is sugar, brown sugar, butter, milk and a little vanilla extract.  Add some time and patience and you will be sweetly rewarded.

Most Amazing God, people are still suffering and dying from this virus and we ask for an end to it.  We thank you for the progress and ask for healing for all those who are suffering from it.  I ask this in the healing name of Jesus, Amen.
