Kev’s Daily Take On 08/15/2022

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Events and Celebrations

Ahhh, it is a fine day to kick back and chill on NATIONAL RELAXATION DAY.  Whatever you need to do to take some time and let all of your cares and worries slip away, do it.  Find your way of relaxing and don’t let anything get in the way.

NATIONAL BACK TO SCHOOL PREP DAY reminds us that the new school year is right around the corner.  It’s a good time to make sure you have everything you need to rock this semester.

Our dessert of the day may make you pucker up a little.  LEMON MERINGUE PIE DAY brings the sweet with a little sour, but it ends up working very nicely together.  First you bite into the fluffy meringue, then you taste the lemon filling, followed by the shortbread crust.  I have about talked myself into a piece.

On this day…

1876 – The U.S. government removes Native Americans from their homeland in the Black Hills, after gold is discovered there

1914 – The Panama Canal opens up and connects the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans

1965 – The Beatles play before a crowd oof 60,000 at Shea Stadium – this was probably the first stadium rock concert

1969 – Woodstock opens its 3-day festival of peace, love and rock-n-roll

1977 – A possible “alien” radio signal is received at Ohio State’s “Big Ear” radio telescope in Delaware.  C’mon, it’s Ohio State – they were probably drinking

1979 – “Apocalypse Now” explodes into theaters

1994 – Carlos “The Jackal”, a notorious terrorist, is captured by French operatives in the Sudan.  I gotta hand it to the French on this one – since there is no extradition in the Sudan, they just kinda kidnapped him and hauled him back to France

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRY!!!

Enjoy the day and make it your own

Dearest Heavenly Father, there are those who have lost people who are close to them.  I would ask that they be comforted and that you send peace and healing for their souls in whichever manner seems best.  Thank for giving us the time together and may we treasure it.  In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
