Events and Celebrations
All Wheels Up started NATIONAL ACCESSIBLE AIR TRAVEL DAY this year. This organization works to make sure people with disabilities have a safe trip in the air. The airlines are required by law to provide wheelchairs, support for the individual and any service animal they have, as well as any necessary communications.
WORLD HONEYBEE DAY draws attention to these buzzing insects that provide us with the sweet nectar of honey. Lately, we have come to realize the importance of the role that bees play in the environment as well as in our lives. These little pollinators need flowers to collect their pollen from and in turn keep the flowers and trees thriving. Nature is certainly amazing.
NATIONAL RADIO DAY tunes in for a celebration full of music, news, talk, sports and whatever else is flying around the air waves. Guglielmo Marconi gets the credit for inventing the radio, but it was really a culmination of events and various people that made it happen. Tune in to your favorite station.
INTERNANATIONAL GEOCACHING DAY leads us on a treasure hunt. Use your GPS to track down pre-placed “caches” or boxes and then sign the notebook inside or take a treasure and leave another treasure. It is all about the hunt and we have been doing this since 2000.
For all of the fatback fiends out there – NATIONAL BACON LOVERS DAY is the day to celebrate the candy of meats. Fry up some strips to perfection and enjoy.
As if our dessert of the day wasn’t decadent enough – we add chocolate it. CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE DAY will satisfy your sweet tooth and make your cavities sing. Go easy on the slice sizes, this one is loaded with a lot of delicious calories.

Enjoy the day and make it your own
What an amazing day, LORD. Thank you for being the kind of God that you are. Loving, faithful, true, compassionate and full of grace and mercy. May those who are seeking for you, find you and may those who don’t know you, come to realize that you have been with them the whole time. Amen.
