I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Events and Celebrations
WOMEN’S EQUALITY DAY celebrates the passing of the 19th Amendment – giving women the right to vote. This was in the year, 1920, and before that certain states were already allowing this. It seems a little absurd not to let women vote and not to consider them as equal to men. We have come a long way, but let’s keep going until we get it right.
NATIONAL GOT CHECKED DAY is brought to us by First Company Pink, a non-profit that asks the question – “Have you been checked?” Have you had your yearly mammogram and breast cancer screenings? If not, please schedule them so you can answer yes to that question.
You could say that today has gone to the dogs and that these are definitely the dog days of summer as it is also NATIONAL DOG DAY. While we sure do love our four-footed furry friends every day, maybe give them a little longer walk or an extra treat on their day.
How about a chilled treat on this hot August Day? CHERRY POPSICLE DAY is a tasty way to cool off- and bonus – you get a red tongue out of it. Chase down that ice cream truck and enjoy one today.
