Kev’s Daily Take On 09/03/2022

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Events and Celebrations

We have to open with NATIONAL TAILGATING DAY, in honor of the NCAA football season getting off to its first big weekend of the season.  Some of you may be tailgating today, and if you are – have a good time.  If you aren’t – make up some delicious snacks, deck yourself out in your team colors and have a good time.  Oh yeah… GO BLUE!!

INTERNATIONAL BACON DAY has to follow National Tailgating Day.  There is some negativity about this candy of meats – but don’t listen to it.  Is it good for you?  Probably not.  Does it have vitamins, minerals and antioxidants? Nope.  Will it fight off colds and boost your immune system? Nah.  But it’s bacon!  I say, if people are gonna talk bad about it – then those people shouldn’t be allowed to smell it when it is cooking.

NATIONAL CINEMA DAY adds to this weekend’s festivities. The Cinema Foundation is offering $3 movie tickets at AMC, Regal and other theaters. Check their website for more information.

U.S. BOWLING LEAGUE DAY rolls right down the middle as we celebrate spares, strikes and turkeys.  Three strikes will get you a turkey and a whole lotta points.  Back in the 1800s, it would have gotten you a real turkey, which was a huge deal, seeing as how the bowling clubs made this offer around Thanksgiving.

WELSH RAREBIT DAY comes to us from across the pond.  This cheesy toast was originally called rabbit – someone’s idea of humor – and soon came to be known as Welsh Rarebit.  Melted cheese over toast makes the rabbit.  It is supposed to go pretty good with ale. Add a poached egg and you have a golden buck.  Add some bacon and it turns into a Yorkshire buck.  Seems like a good day to try one.

Dear LORD, we continue to ask for deliverance from this disease and that those who are suffering from it be healed.  We do thank you for the progress that has been made and pray for it to be under control very soon. We would also pray for those who are under the control of Fentanyl, that they might be able to get their lives back.  I ask this in the healing name of Jesus, Amen.
