NATIONAL PUBLICIST DAY celebrates the people who literally make it their job to make us look good.  Public Relations in this day and age can be tricky with social media, and a good publicist can do wonders for your business and image.  Thank you for what you do.

VISIT A CEMETARY DAY just wants us to keep our dearly departed in mind and honor them with a visit.  If it has been a while since you have gone, today could be a good day to pay your respects again.

CREATE A GREAT FUNERAL DAY is all about planning and preparation.  Don’t wait until it is too late to let your family and friends know your final resting place wishes.  Draw up the wills and get everything laid out before hand – so to speak.  In the course of planning my parents’ wake – we found it was cheaper to send a loved one’s ashes into space than it was to bury them in a coffin.  So, when it comes to your final send off – let everyone know how you want to go.

NATIONAL TREAT YOUR PET DAY gives our furry family members yet another treat.  With all of these pet holidays lately – our furry and feathered family members are gonna get fat

Education and Information

SPEAK UP FOR SERVICE DAY recognizes the contributions that youth have made toward the community.  Sponsored by the Lions Clubs, youth get a platform from which to verbalize how they can positively impact their communities as well as getting recognized for doing so.

On Today’s Menu…

NATIONAL CANDY CORN DAY falls into that category of – either you love it, or you hate it.  To me, it just isn’t Fall without a little bit of this sweet treat lying around. I have recently seen various recipes trying to incorporate candy corn into their mix – my unsolicited advice – leave it alone – enjoy it as it is – that’s how nature intended it.

1864 – 4 gold prospectors turn their mining camp, Last Chance Gulch, into what would become the capitol of Montana – the city of Helena

1938 – Nationwide panic ensues when people think an alien invasion is happening.  It was just Orson Welles doing a radio dramatization of H.G. Wells War of the Worlds – apparently, his tone, sound effects and fellow actors were very convincing.

1974 – Muhammed Ali knocks out George Foreman in round 8 at the “Rumble in the Jungle”

1989 – Smith Dairy in Orrville, Ohio makes the world’s largest milkshake at 1,575.2 gallons

1991 – “The perfect storm” thunders into the North Atlantic causing the loss of the Andrea Gail and her 6-person crew as well as spawning a book and movie

2003 – 18-year-old Lebron James, fresh out of high school, make his NBA debut, playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers.  He scored 25 points, had 6 rebounds and 9 assists

Most Amazing Heavenly Father, we know that death is inevitable, but it is still hard to deal with. Comfort those who are grieving and may we find solace and peace in memories.  I would also ask for a safe Halloween and keep our kids from harm.  In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen.
