GO CAROLING DAY gathers our friends and family together as we dress for the weather, warm up our voices and spread some holiday cheer through the neighborhood.  It is a nice tradition.

SACAGAWEA DAY honors the brave woman who was an indispensable guide, translator and calming presence on the Lewis and Clark Expedition.  She was kidnapped by an enemy tribe when she was 12 and later sold to a French fur trader – Toussaint Charbonneau.  She and her husband both aided the expedition and Sacagawea accomplished everything she did while caring for her infant son, Jean-Baptiste.  She would die of Putrid Fever on this day in 1812, but she will always be remembered for her courage, strength, and compassion.

CATHODE RAY TUBE DAY remembers when this technology was da bomb.  Any kind of screen or monitor, back then, was a CRT and had the big tube attached.  Today, of course, we have LED monitors that are quite a bit thinner, but we can’t forget where we came from or what got us here.

For Fun

GAMES DAY started in the United Kingdom in 1975 as a convention for gamers to come together.  This would include everything from backgammon to chess to whatever game you could think of.  Today, fantasy games like Magic and Warhammer draw the crowds, however, you choose the games to play today and have fun.

NATIONAL SANGRIA DAY raises a toast to a delightful combination of wine and fruit.  Start off with your favorite wine, add some fruit and juice and let it sit in the fridge for a while.  Fill up the glasses and enjoy – responsibly.
