The big hurrah before the Lentin season goes by many names – MARDI GRAS – FASNACHT – CARNIVAL – FAT TUESDAY – PACZKI DAY. Lent is all about preparing oneself for Easter and for some that means denying themselves that which would distract them from that preparation. Parades, feasts and indulgences are the order of the day. We just had our big celebration in St. Louis over the weekend with over 7 million strings of beads being thrown during the parade. Celebrate today to contemplate and abstain tomorrow.
Education and Information
Unfortunately, I think I already blew NATIONAL GRAIN-FREE DAY with my bowl of heart healthy Cheerios, but it may not be too late for some of you. This day brings awareness to the people who are allergic to wheat, rice and corn and cannot partake of their cooked and baked goods. There are substitutes available and you can plan a dinner for them that is more than just celery and carrots.
On Today’s Menu…

We need to head over to IHOP to celebrate NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY. From 7:00am-4:00pm, you can get a free short stack of their buttermilk pancakes and donate for charity. Since 2006 they have raised over $30 million. Go to www.ihop.com to learn more.
Our dessert of the day will have you licking your fingers. NATIONAL STICKY BUN DAY brings the sweet and sticky to the table in a delicious sort of way. First, line your pan with syrup, honey, nuts, sugar and butter and then put the dough on top that has been flavored with brown sugar and cinnamon. Bake and then turn the pan upside down so the sticky part is now on top. Enjoy and finger licking is allowed and encouraged.
