Awareness Spotlight shines on…

Bright Pink sponsors NATIONAL CALL YOUR DOCTOR DAY to remind women to make their Well-Woman exam appointment.  Today is roughly halfway through the year and a good time to schedule this.  If you have already done so, call your physician anyway and give them a good “What’s up doc?”

NATIONAL MAKING LIFE BEAUTIFUL DAY is dedicated to everyone who strives to make this world a more beautiful place.  Bring your heartfelt creativity or just a warm heart and please do not deprive the world of what you have to offer.  One way to do this is to celebrate NATIONAL SAY HI DAY.  This day is inspired by Joseph Anthony Cinotti, a special needs youth who passed away at 15. He would say Hi to everyone he met.  If you can manage to offer up a “Hi”, a wave, or a head nod, you may be surprised how many people reciprocate. 

Education and Information

This one may not apply to all of us, but for those that it does, NATIONAL FORKLIFT SAFETY DAY is pretty important.  Drivers, make sure you know the specs on your machine, what your load weighs, that you have an unobstructed view of where you are driving, to honk at every corner and intersection and to wear your seatbelt – also NO riders.  People walking around forklifts need to be aware of what is around them, make eye contact with the driver- if possible, and NEVER walk under the forks.  You do have the right of way but, if any mishap takes place, it will be the drivers fault – but please, speaking as a driver and a trainer, watch where you are going and STAY OFF THE DAMN PHONE!!

For Fun

YARN BOMBING DAY is another way to beautify the world.  Find a worn-out park bench or other such structure and decorate it with colorful yarn.  This will definitely brighten up your area.

On Today’s Menu…

Now, it’s time to sink your teeth into NATIONAL CORN ON THE COB DAY.  Boil it, grill it or even deep fry it, slather that cob in butter and dig in.

Our dessert of the day is absolutely decadent.  NATIONAL GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE DAY combines chocolate, coconut and deliciousness that calls out to you to enjoy a slice today.
