Military Honors

In 1790, President George Washington signed the Tariff Act which authorized the construction of 10 vessels to enforce Federal tariff and trade laws and to prevent smuggling. This was our only armed floating force until the Navy came along in 1798. Today, the brave men and women who make up this branch, rush into disaster torn areas, provide safety and security on our waterways and can be called up at a moment’s notice in time of war. No wonder their motto is Semper Paratus – Always Ready. HAPPY BIRTHDAY COAST GUARD!
A Tip of the Hat Goes to…

PSYCHIC DAY gazes into the next realm and validates those who recognize their psychic abilities. Sure, you have your frauds, but I believe there are people who have a sensitive “touch” with the spiritual world. My Mom certainly had that, and whether you can tell the future, read people’s auras or conduct energy work, getting in touch with your spiritual side is never a bad thing.
Family and Friends

AMERICAN FAMILY DAY, NATIONAL SISTERS DAY and NATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY all speak to how important relationships are. Each family has their own dynamics that make them unique and that should be celebrated. Sisters have always had a special bond. Being a friend to someone is something that you will never get less out of than what you put in. Even if it turns out that the other person may not be as good of a friend as you thought. Giving of yourself and your soul is a beautiful thing on its own.
Our Furry Friends

Dogs are definitely man’s best friend, but these canines take it to another level. ASSISTANCE DOG DAY honors the dogs and the people who train them to help those with disabilities. It is quite incredible what these animals are capable of, and what they do for their humans.

And now, the one we have all been waiting for… NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DAY. Make ‘em or buy ‘em. Dunk them in milk or not. Enjoy them however you want to…and don’t worry about the calories.
