For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
PATRIOT DAY – We will never forget where we were when those two planes struck the World Trade Center. We will never forget the images of people leaping to their deaths to avoid the flames. We will never forget hearing of the Pentagon being hit or of Flight #93 crashing into that Pennsylvania field – killing all on board. We will never forget the plumes of smoke and the clouds of dirt and ash that covered New York. We will never forget the empty skies, devoid of planes for days afterwards. We will never forget the heroes who selflessly rushed in to rescue the hurt and injured. We will never forget the survivors who made it out of the buildings, with their stories of courageous people who guided them out or gave their lives so others could live. We will never forget the brave passengers of Flight #93, who purposefully sacrificed themselves so that fourth plane would not wreak any havoc as well. We will never forget the fire, police, emergency and EMT crews who responded and sometimes paid the ultimate price. We will never forget how people from all over the country answered the call to do what they could to help with the search and rescue and the cleanup. We will never forget how full the churches were afterwards. We will never forget how this country came together for the sake of each other. We will never forget the 3,000 people who lost their lives that day. We will never forget that sometimes we are a divided country, but when it comes down to it, we are there for each other because we are all Americans. Being an American transcends color, social status, political affiliation and religious belief. We showed the world that day that we can take a sucker punch and even get knocked down. But we pick ourselves up as one people and stand together. God bless America!

A pretty good writer who liked surprise endings

Paul Bear Bryant (1913-1983)
One of the most successful college football coaches of all time. His record of 323-85-17 speaks for itself. He also recruited the first black player for Alabama and was a major force in the integration of college football

Tom Landry (1924-2000)
Another awesome coach – he led the Dallas Cowboys to 20 consecutive winning seasons, 5 Superbowl’s and is the reason they are called “America’s Team”
Brian De Palma (1940- )
This director gave us Carrie (1976), Scarface (1983), The Untouchables (1987) and Mission: Impossible (1996), among many others

Harry Connick Jr (1967- )
Jazzy Grammy Award winning singer, musician and actor
Dear Heavenly Father, please protect those who protect us – military, police, firefighters, and first responders. May our country not be divided but may we come together as we did after those devastating attacks on 9/11. Please bless our country. I ask this in Your powerful name Jesus, Amen.
