WOMEN’S EQUALITY DAY celebrates the passing of the 19th Amendment – giving women the right to vote.  This was in the year 1920, and before that certain states were already allowing this.  It seems a little absurd not to let women vote and not to consider them as equal to men.  We have come a long way, but let’s keep going until we get it right.

NATIONAL GOT CHECKED DAY is brought to us by First Company Pink, a non-profit that asks the question – “Have you been checked?” Have you had your yearly mammogram and breast cancer screenings? If not, please schedule them so you can answer yes to that question.

You could say that today has gone to the dogs and that these are definitely the dog days of summer as it is also NATIONAL DOG DAY.  While we sure do love our four-footed furry friends every day, maybe give them a little longer walk or an extra treat on their day.

The year was 1871 and a major event was about to take place that would change the course of history forever.  Toilet paper was put on a roll and sold to the public for the first time.  It took a while to get to this point as China had started mass producing TP back in the 14th century.  However, it was the Germans in 1930, who thought to perforate it and put 1,000 squares on a roll.  Of course, today, we have come to realize the true importance of this stuff after the great Toilet Paper Shortage during the pandemic.  Make sure and wish someone a Happy NATIONAL TOILET PAPER DAY today.
