Ever since John Cameron Swayze delivered the news in 1948, we have stayed informed of current events, latest trends, and weather conditions. NATIONAL HUG A NEWSPERSON DAY gives us a chance to show them how much we appreciate their work and talent. If you can’t do it in person, maybe just give ‘em an air hug with a quick thank you through social media. If you do get a chance to actually embrace your favorite newscaster – make sure and get permission first.
Awareness Spotlight shines on…
Today is NATIONAL ALCOHOL SCREENING DAY. Beer and its companion alcoholic drinks are not for everybody, and they can affect some differently. If you find the alcohol taking over, please take steps to gain control of your life. Get a screening to see where you stand and what you can do about it. There is a lot of life to live, don’t let anything trap you. Always, if you do drink, be responsible and don’t drive.

Born during WWII, the Willys MB Jeep was so efficient that President Eisenhower called it “one of the three decisive weapons the U.S. had”. Nowadays, you can get them in a whole lot of other colors besides Army green and with a whole lot more options.
On Today’s Menu…
It is time to celebrate NATIONAL BURRITO DAY. Burrito actually means “little donkey” in Spanish, and I am not sure how it relates, but I do know that I will probably go to Taco Bell and get a bean burrito with sour cream and extra red sauce along with a beefy melt burrito for my wife. These filling rolled tortillas stuffed with all kinds of goodies can be found in Mexican lore since the 1890’s but didn’t make an appearance in the good ol’ U.S. of A. until the 1930’s. I am sure glad they did.
No one is quite sure where this next dish comes from, we just know it is a blue-ribbon winner – literally. NATIONAL CORDON BLEU DAY celebrates the Swiss – or French – entrée that consists of veal or chicken with ham, covered in cheese and breadcrumbs, then fried and served with cream sauce. Chicken cordon bleu is very popular here in the U.S. and it is easy to see why. By the way – Cordon bleu is French for blue ribbon.
