Margaret Gorman was crowned our first Miss America – 1921

A Tip of the Hat Goes to…

We give a tip of our mailman’s hat as we celebrate NEITHER SNOW NOR RAIN DAY. “Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds” – is the inscription above the doors of the New York Post Office which opened on this day in 1914. This speaks to the dedication and commitment of our postal workers. We thank you for your service in bringing us our mail.

GRATEFUL PATIENT DAY gives us a chance to thank those who were there for us when we needed them the most. Doctors, nurses, medical staff, family and friends can all be part of the healing process when we are sick and injured and we are indeed grateful for your skill, caring, love and support.
For Fun

NATIONAL TAILGATING DAY comes to us at the start of the football season. Some of you may be tailgating today, and if you are – have a good time. If you aren’t – make up some delicious snacks, deck yourself out in your team colors and have a good time. Oh yeah… GO BLUE!!
Belly up to the Bar

Let’s hoist a mug to NATIONAL BEER LOVERS DAY. For those who love everything about this brewed beverage, we celebrate the process that takes the barley, hops, yeast and other ingredients and turns them into a frothy thirst-quenching drink. Here’s to ya.
On Today’s Menu…

ACORN SQUASH DAY celebrates this versatile vegetable and it’s heralding of the upcoming season of Autumn. Steamed, sauteed or stuffed there are a lot of ways to prepare this squash and it accompanies just about anything on your plate.

NATIONAL SALAMI DAY is all about this deli staple that goes great on a sandwich or a meat and cheese platter. Straight from Italy, this sausage can be smoked, dried, and seasoned with peppercorn. A nice Italian sub sounds good for lunch.
