  1. My wife and I have been watching some past gems from Ed Sullivan’s show . . . a welcome journey down memory lane. Here’s a quick footnote about Ted Williams’ historic .406 batting average. He entered the season’s final game with an average above .400. He could have sat out and still achieved immortality, but he chose to play and added to his average.
