Religious Holidays

SAINT BASIL’S DAY observes the saint who is considered. “the father of communal monasticism”. He established a monastery on his father’s estate and his writings would greatly contribute to monastical traditions. Basil would be made Bishop of Caesarea which would give him great power. He used that power to preach day and night, provide for the needy and build the Basiliad – considered to be the first hospital. It served as a hospital, poorhouse and hospice and was compared to the wonders of the world. He is the patron saint of hospital administrators, reformers and the Cappadocian region of Turkey.

PERSONAL TRAINER DAY gives a big thank you to these people who work hard to make us work out. They know the ins and outs of exercise, what works and what doesn’t. Getting certified is part of the process and we thank them for their application of expertise on getting us in shape.
Awareness Spotlight shines on…

WORLD INTROVERT DAY is for that special 25 to 40% of the population that tend to focus inward. If you are quiet, reserved, introspective, get exhausted by being around too many people or need a break from all of the stimulation out there – you might just be an introvert – and that’s okay.
For Fun

NATIONAL SCIENCE FICTION DAY is all about that far out genre that pushes the boundaries of imagination. Today is the day to read your favorite Sci-fi book or watch that awesome space movie. Today also happens to be the birthday of Isaac Asimov – coincidence – I think not.
On Today’s Menu…

NATIONAL BUFFET DAY seems to have survived COVID. I can’t think of any buffets that managed to stay open during those dark days and some of them did not come back. For those that did, this is the day to patronize those establishments, grab a plate, go down the rows of food and put your meal together just the way you like it. The only question is how many times do you go back up?

Our dessert of the day gives a nod to the French for creating NATIONAL CREAM PUFF DAY. These light and puffy pastries can be filled with whipped cream, custard or ice cream. Top off this decadent delicacy with powdered sugar, chocolate sauce or caramel and your sweet tooth will be more than satisfied.
